® Triggered B sweep
In basic delayed sweep, the
B
tirncaxis
is not triggered by a
signal
event, it begins when the main (A umebase) sweep cross
comparate
level scuing by DELAY
TIME
POS. knob. The only
problem with this is that mai n
tirneaxis jitter becomes apparent
in the
B sweep at higb ratios
of
A to B
TIME
/DN
switch setting
(100 : I
and
up).
To prev
ent
this, the B sweep can be triggered by the signal
itself, or a time-relate trigger signal. Th e DELAY T
IME
POS
control
then
determines the mini
mum
delay time between A
and
B
sweeps : the actual delay time will be that plus the additional
time until the next available trigger.
Th
e result is that
actual delay time is variable only with step resolution, in
increments of the interval betwen triggers.
The maximum
mag
nification possible by this tec
hnique
is several
thou
sand
times. (CRT brightness be
ing
the limiting factor.

For
triggered B sweep, proceed as follows :
A. Set up the scope for basic delayed sweep as described in
the preceding paragr
aph
s.
B. Press in the
B
TRIG
'D
pushbutt
on
[21], and adjust the
Trigger LEVEL control
[3
oJ
if necessary. Th e B timeaxis is
now triggering on the same trigger signal as the A
timebase. The stan of
B sweep will always be a leading or
trailing edge of the trigger signal : turning the DELAY
TIME
POS
control will not change this.
